Day Twenty Six
October 27, 2023
last day
did some more minor metal work - flashing here and there. like around the door and down some columns in the picture above. i also learned how to rivet. and that’s another one of those ‘small’ things where getting hands-on help from the crew pays incredible dividends.
it’s a simple thing, to rivet (cue all the “it’s riveting” puns) but for whatever reason i was having trouble everywhere i turned today. the first rivet gun was broken, then we were out of rivets and had to wait for more to come, then i couldn’t find a metal drill bit, once i actually got the rivet in place i couldn’t remember how to complete the process, etc.. but it was just one of those mornings. and the crew helped me out at each little obstacle (with barely an eye roll) and i moved on. a little life lesson that.
here’s the daily walk around. new concrete was put in place where both wing walls meet the structure as some hard insulation was put up, shaped quite nicely, then covered over.
it was something of a short day. the last day when everyone was working. some of the crew are heading out tomorrow, some on sunday. a few are staying behind to put in the glass.
and here’s a video of what it looked like when i last stepped inside what we’ve built these past 4 weeks.
