Day Twenty Three
October 24, 2023
metal bender (not the last)
i spent all day bending metal into small, then much bigger items.
the small was just me and hans, i’d cut a piece of metal 3” x 12”, then he’d take it to the metal brake machine and fold it on itself twice lengthwise, then bend the end about 45 degrees. it looked like this:
the finished product is in the first picture above, near the tape measure. it’s brownish.
it was then used to support the gutter running along the back wall of the structure.
by the time we did 30 of those, it was time for lunch. here’s the walk around. you can see more insulation going in around the walls, and the berm pushed higher still.
and as i wrote yesterday, the berm is pushed right up underneath the gutter. you can barely see the top of the cistern chimney.
after lunch i spent the rest of the day cutting and shaping flashing to go along the side of the structure, preventing water from getting under the propanel (metal) roof. i don’t have a picture of the it here, but will add one later.
and here’s one of the propanel being installed on the roof. by the end of the day, it was finished.
and here’s a video of walking into the structure.
